This is the home of the COM Express™ Extension.
The COM Express™ Extension is based on the COM Express™ specification (maintained by the PCI Industrial Manufacturers Group) and adds essential pin-outs for key extended features including onboard thermal control and BIOS implementations with smart battery support plus new graphic interface standards.
The COM Express™ Extension is the second initiative from the COM Industrial Group members to keep next generation Computer-on-Modules closer to the market needs. It is comprised of the following two documents:
Worldwide members of the COM-IG have joined together to share and disseminate information as well as to provide a place for the independent exchange of COM ideas. The proposed “Extension” pin-outs are now before PICMG® and being considered for incorporation in a revised COM Express™ specification. The “Extension” is essential in order to consistently utilize the latest graphics capabilities from chipset vendors including from Intel®, AMD® / ATI® and VIA® and for introducing the new COM Express™ compatible form factor - nanoETXexpress and microETXexpress.
